27 YEARS OF INSPIRATION - DR BAUMAN COSMETICS WAY AHEAD OF IT’S TIME
A personal interveiw with one of the companies founders Dr Ernst Walter Henrich.

For 27 years Dr Baumann Cosmetics has stayed true to a strong ethical core.The core values that were and will always be the guiding principles that dictate their behavior their products and unwavering commitment to people animals and the environment
I was fortunate to reach Dr Henrich in Switzerland today as we discussed Dr Baumann Cosmetics 27 years on and what it means to him.
He said that it had been the right strategy namely to concentrate on good health not only for the skin but also for the body through healthy nutrition and healthy skincare. He said that thousands of beauty salons are now inspired by this strategy so it proved to be the correct one. He also said that 27 years ago people were not talking about vegan issues the dangers of parabens, mineral oils chemicals, and the environment "but we were!”
When I asked him about what he felt had been his greatest achievement he said “The idea that the SkinIdent cosmetics could actually be created in a laboratory was wonderful and exiting and that the theory, the dream of a SkinIdent line was one thing but that it was possible to create it in the laboratory was quite something else”
He said that this was “the absolute in a strategy based on the maximim health for people and the environment.”
I asked him if he would share his plans for the future with us.
He said to keep on with the health strategy (encompasing nutrition and a healthy skin and body) as more and more people were looking at ingredients in skincare. He said further that happily people are generally more informed and critical of ingredients. Also that the media and scientific reports on dangerous ingredients used in skincare are more prevalent and support the fact that these ingredients can create allergy risks ,premature aging and even more serious health and environmental issues.
“People are realizing that certain ingredients are not good for their health or the health of their children and their families. It is a big topic”
Talking about the cosmetic market generally
Dr Henrich said that “ there is a dilemma that arises when one reacts to customers wishes and therefore many ingredients are used such as perfumes, chemical preservatives and other chemicals working against what the customer really expects and that for many dermatological and Physiological reasons allergies and other skin ailments come directly from “body unfriendly” ingredients.
"Very often there is a compromise on healthy ingredients because of costs and if the majority of people believe and buy these products then companies think why change anything?
“That is the reality”
Dr Henrich said that he held firmly to the belief in mantaining a work ethic , of a moral attitude and obligation to be good to people and not to betray their trust. He could not live with the feeling of selling unhealthy products.”I would’nt be happy he said”
Looking to the future
“ To acquire more and more distributors in other countries –to expand because now is the time to provide healthy skincare to for other countries where we have no presence yet”
